A busy restaurant on the outskirts of little Vietnam
Pho Lily is a restaurant that is a little bit further from the center of Little Vietnam, but don't let that deter you from coming here. We went on a Friday night and there was a couple of large groups here but we got seated right away. The atmosphere of this restaurant is okay, the decor could use an upgrade but it was simple and seemed pretty clean.
We order the chicken wings as an appetizer since they sounded interesting, but they were just okay. We probably wouldn't order them again but we didn't really expect much anyway
Now onto the star of the show. the Pho. The first thing you will notice when they bring it out is the strong aroma it gives off, in a good way. There is a strong cardamom scent, so you can tell they roasted their aromatics when making the pho. However, when tasting the broth, the flavor is still perfectly balanced. The broth is a bit more herb-y tasting than other phos (likely more cardamom and coriander than other broths) but still very yummy. It wasn't that sweet either, so if you don't like sweeter broths than you would enjoy this.
The noodles were pretty standard, definitely flavorful but a bit overcooked. The flank steak wasn't the best we've had but we still ate all of it. The meatballs are more peppery than normal, which I wasn't a big fan of but Richard likes them that way. It's just a matter of preference I guess.
Overall, this place was pretty good and I would definitely come here again to try other things on their menu!
